I always use my laptop with the charger plug in the outlet, I even leave it plug in when the laptop is off. Does this mean I'm charging my batteries all day or should it be fine. Just wondering cause I've heard about the recent Dell laptop batteries catching fire

It should be fine, I do the same thing. As long as your laptop doesn't feel really hot, then you have nothing to worry about.
